Scientists who study fossils are called paleontologists. Some fossils they discover are from dinosaurs. Dinosaur bones, teeth, and claws are called body fossils. You may have seen body fossils at a museum when you see the bones of a Tyrannosaurus Rex or Triceratops!

Body fossils aren't the only reason we know so much about dinosaurs! A Trace fossils show signs of dinosaurs. These include footprints in the mud or imprints of their scaly skin. A Mold is another type of dinosaur fossil. A mold fossil can be made when dinosaur bones are buried beneath many layers of sediment, like sand or dirt. True form fossils can also occur when objects are petrified, like wood. In dinosaurs, one interesting petrified fossil is dinosaur poop, called coprolites! All of these fossils help us learn more about reptiles!

a - casts are fossils

b - there are other dinosaur fossils besides body fossils
