Answer:

The Oxford dictionary definition of prejudice is 'preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or experience'. With increased prejudice in our society nowadays, there are not enough laws and restrictions that act against this. Over time, prejudice can turn into dangerous impacts on life like bullying and racism which corrupts our society in ways that no one could imagine. It takes 33 to 100 milliseconds for someone to make a first judgment of someone they see. This means that there is such little time for an individual to improve their first impression without being categorized in someone's mind.

Prejudice in public spaces such as school and the workplace causes disruption between friends and colleagues. No one is interested in looking bad in someone's eyes, this is why there has to be time given to someone for introductions. Prejudice is generally aimed at religious and different ethnic groups. Factors in life such as stereotypes can cause someone to judge someone in their mind. For example, the classic example that 'Asians are smart' can be regarded as people with dark hair and an accent. Someone may make a certain decision that an Asian member of their school or workplace would be much smarter than them and acted as a threat!

Hope this helps, have a lovely day! :)

Answer:

Prejudice is an all-too-common occurrence in society today, and it is often directed towards certain groups of people who have been unfairly judged before they have even had a chance to demonstrate their true character. This can be particularly damaging to individuals who have been the victims of such prejudice, as they often feel that they have been unfairly judged and discriminated against.

One example of a person who has been unfairly prejudged is my friend, Sam. Sam is a young man who is of mixed race; his father is Caucasian, while his mother is African-American. Although Sam has never been anything but kind and generous to those around him, he is often met with suspicion and mistrust due to the color of his skin.

For instance, when he goes to the mall, he is often stopped by store security for no apparent reason. This can be incredibly humiliating for him, as he is well aware that the only reason he is being targeted is because of his race. He also experiences prejudice in the workplace, where he is often overlooked for promotions or new opportunities. Even if he is an excellent worker and is highly qualified for a position, he is often passed over in favor of someone else simply because of his skin color.
