Answer: The main difference between a computer worm and a computer virus is that worms can spread independently, without being attached to a host file or program. Where as viruses are attached to a file and need to be opened to spread.

A virus needs a host to infect and spread, while a worm is a standalone program that can replicate and spread across networks.

Viruses are usually more hidden and cause damage, while worms are more visible and can consume resources.
