let's multiply the first equation by 3, abd the second equating by -2, and then we add them :

6x + 9y = 87

-6x - 4y = -62

y = 25/5 = $5

let's use the original first equation to get x (but we could use also the second equation, it does not matter).

2x + 3×5 = 29

2x + 15 = 29

2x = 14

x = $7

each ham sandwich costs $7.
