We know that a semicircle is half the area of a circle so to answer this question we can simply find the area of a circle with a diameter of 11cm and then half it!

The area of a circle can be found using the equation: πr²

The radius of the circle would be 5.5cm as we have to be half the diameter.

This means to work it out we would be doing...

  • π × 5.5² = 95.0331777711

Now we have to half it...

  • 95.0331777711 ÷ 2 = 47.5165888855 or 47.5 rounded to 1d.p
