9 1/36

Explanation:

set 7/9 and 1/4 to a common denominator

so lets do 36,

7 x 4 = 28

9 x 4 = 36

1 x 9 =9

4 x 9 =36

28/36 + 9/36 = 1 1/36

1+8 = 9
