Farud had 4 ⅓ bags of M&Ms left after Halloween. Jackson had ¹³⁄₃ bags of M&Ms left. Farud said that he had more because he had 4 whole bags and Jackson had no whole bags. Is he correct? Explain how you know on the lines below.

Answer:

he is incorrect because Jackson also has 4 whole bags because 13/3 is a mixed number therefore jackson really has 4 13/3 or 4 1/3 which would be the amount as Fraud

Farud is not correct in his claim that he had more M&Ms than Jackson.

Although Farud had 4 whole bags of M&Ms left, he only had ⅓ of a bag left.

Jackson had ¹³⁄₃ bags left, which is equivalent to 4 whole bags and ⅓ of a bag.

Therefore, Jackson had the same amount of whole bags as Farud, but he also had an additional ⅓ of a bag.
