HELP PLEASE!

Read the excerpt from act 5, scene 6 of The Tragedy of Macbeth. Young Siward has come to fight Macbeth. The stage direction has been expanded to describe his fight with Macbeth.

Young Siward. What is thy name?

Macbeth. Thou’lt be afraid to hear it.

Young Siward. No; though thou call’st thyself a hotter name
Than any is in hell.

Macbeth. My name’s Macbeth.

Young Siward. The devil himself could not pronounce a title
More hateful to mine ear.

Macbeth. No, nor more fearful.

Young Siward. Thou liest, abhorred tyrant; with my sword
I’ll prove the lie thou speak’st.

They fight for quite a while. At different points, either MACBETH or YOUNG SIWARD could appear to emerge victorious, and both suffer major injuries. Ultimately, YOUNG SIWARD is slain.

What does the expanded stage direction most likely reveal about Young Siward?

A. He respects Macbeth’s skillful swordsmanship.
B. He does not have the ability to defeat Macbeth.
C. He is not someone who gives up easily.
D. He has had intense training in sword fighting.

The expanded stage direction does not provide information about Young Siward's swordsmanship abilities or training. It reveals that he is not afraid of Macbeth and is willing to engage in a fight with him, despite knowing his reputation. Therefore, the most likely answer is C. He is not someone who gives up easily.
