to find the next term in an arithmetic sequence add the common difference d to the previous term.

d = a₂ - a₁ = - 5 - (- 8) = - 5 + 8 = 3

then

a₄ = a₃ + d = - 2 + 3 = 1

a₅ = a₄ + d = 1 + 3 = 4

the next two terms are 1, 4
