X = total number of apples

*Make another fraction of x the denominator and the 66 that are in good condition as the numerator*

12/100 = 66/X

Cross multiply

12 * X = 12x

66 * 100 = 6600

Divide

6600/12 = 12x/12 - cancel

6600/12= 550

X = 550
