If the trend in the table continues, the value that is closest to the predicted population size during year 12 is: C. 46

How to find the predicted value of the table?

We see from the table that:

When x = 0, y = 12

When x = 2, y = 15

When x = 4, y = 19

When x = 6, y = 24

When x = 8, y = 31

When x = 10, y = 38

We see that as x increases by 2, the change in y gradually starts by increasing by 3 and has gradually increased by 7.

Thus, the next increment in y is logically by 8 or 9 and as such from the options, the predicted value will be 46
