What did Euphemia Haynes do to become the first woman to be chairperson of the D.C. Board of Education?

Haynes "contributed quite grandly to the educational system of the District of Columbia." She taught in the public schools of Washington, D.C., for 47 years and in 1966 became the first woman to chair the DC Board of Education, on which she served through 1967.
