Nalani was once a messenger in the skies who took the form of a bird. She flew across the world to deliver the words of her goddess. On one of her many travels, she stumbled upon a little girl who managed to pique her interest. The little girl also took interest in the little bird, who always followed her around. And so a lovely friendship grew between the two of them. The two grew up together, almost as if they were family. The little girl was a bright and happy child who always wanted to give hope to other people in times of need. Because of her attitude, Nalani was always intrigued by the little girl's belief in the world. Those happy days soon came to an end. Nalani started to notice the little girl growing weaker and weaker. She then discovered that we were suffering from a curse that would cause your body to burn in a slow and painful way. She desperately tried to find a cure for her, but to no avail, she had to give up. So, too, did the little girl who gave up on her painful battle. The little girl apologized to Nalani for never telling her her name. In a weak voice, she whispered, "My name is Ilaria Larlan." Now that she has fulfilled her task, she closes the door and passes away with a smile on her face. Nalani sobbed in silence as she watched her friends with a permanent smile on her face. In a fit of despair, she changed her form and took on the appearance of her ilaria so that she too could carry her pain. Nalani now wonders around the world in the form of her precious friend, helping lost souls pass on in peace and spreading hope to those who truly need it. The golden butterflies serve as a guide to bring souls in pain to a place where they can no longer suffer and finally be at peace.
