James started with 25 pieces of gum and gave away x pieces. Cory started with 30 pieces of gum and gave away twice as many pieces as James did. How many pieces of gum did James give away if the two boys had the same number of pieces of gum left?

Can someone please solve this problem for me? It’s equations and inequalities, by the way.

Answer:

James must've given away 5 pieces of gum because, of course, 25 - 5 would be 20, and if Cory gave away twice as much he'd be giving away 10, and 30 - 10 is 20. So the answer is 5

Answer:5

Step-by-step explanation: James started with 25 pieces and gave away 5 pieces of gum, Cory started with 30 pieces gave twice as much(10 pieces of gum) 25-5=20 and 30-10=20 so they both ended with 20 pieces of gum
