The formula to calculate the slope is the following:


(y_2 -y_1)/(x_2-y_1)

In the graph above your two points are (1,2) and (5,1), so with that said you just plug in the numbers into the formula.

y₂ = 2

y₁ = 1

x₂ = 1

x₁ = 5


(2-1)/(1-5) = -(1)/(4)
