each roll is 9 ft....so 5 rolls = (9 * 5) = 45 ft

1 ft = 12 inches....so 45 ft = (12 * 45) = 540 inches

540/15 = 36 <=== the greatest number of 15-inch pieces the seamstress that she can cut 36 fifteen inch pieces of ribbon
