Yes , it was an ideal choice in my opinion. Let me explain both and you choose the one you prefer . :)

Step-by-step explanation:

yes: I believe it was the right thing for the United States to join the Allies because, at the period of time that they were considering joining the war, The Triple Alliance ;consisting of Germany ,Austria-Hungry and Italy were seen to be the 'bad guys' who were just trying to claim the whole of Europe. Owing to this, they had a lot of powers against them and countries with large armies such as Russia ( who was part of the opposite team , the Triple Entente ). Therefore it was better to join the team that looked like they would come out victorious. IT can also be sid that this was a stratigic move from the USA because if Germany were to win they would most likely have problems with America later on as the two countries did not really agree too much . Although the USA and Britain had their differences there were a few things that they could agree on.

no; It can also be argued that it was not a wise decision to make . This is due to the mere fact that the United States had no involvement ( apart from supplying loans , weaponry etc) in the war and no one attacking them .Not to mention their president at the time -Woodrow Wilson, had mentioned that America would not get involved in the war during his time of election , only to go against his words and join. This could have had serious repercussions if the Triple Entente lost and could have sent America into a 'Pre-Great Depression .

- I really hope this helped , i tried my best with the few things i got from watching and learning on this topic.
