Answer: x=67, y=23

Here are our 2 equations

x+2=3y

x+y+90=180

Simplifying,

x+2=3y

x+y=90

Now that we know this, we can use the 2nd equation to find x in terms of y,

x=90-y

and substitute in the first equation.

(90-y)+2=3y

=>92-y=3y

=>4y=92

=>y=23

So x=90-23

=>x=67
