An iceboat with a mass of 30 kg moves on a horizontal lake with a coefficient of friction of 0.5. If the wind exerts a constant force, Fon the iceboat that starts from rest and covers a distance of 25.0 m in 1 minute. What is the velocity of the iceboat at a distance of 25.0 m?

Answer:

S = V0 t + 1/2 a t^2

25 = 1/2 a (60)^2 since iceboat starts from rest V0 = 0

a = 50 / 3600 m/s^2 = .0139 m/s^2

V = a t = .0139 m/s^2 * 60 s = .833 m/s
