Answer:

The First Great Awakening had a major impact on women. It marked a shift from the traditional Calvinist beliefs of predestination and original sin to the more optimistic rhetoric of individual spiritual experience and personal faith. This allowed women to become more involved in religious activities such as attending church, joining prayer groups, and even preaching and writing about their faith. Furthermore, this awakening fostered a culture of religious enthusiasm which was shared among women and men equally, thus giving women increased freedom to participate in religious activities and express themselves in ways that had not been available to them in previous generations.
