Answer:

40 or 0

Explanation:

We have a system. m/n = 1/4 and m^2/n =2.

m/n= 1/4

We can isolate m

m = n/4

We can now plug this into the other equation:

m^2/n = 2

(n/4)^2/n = 2

(n/4)^2 = 2n

n^2/16 = 2n

n^2 = 32n

n^2 - 32n = 0

n(n-32) = 0

N = 0, 32

from these, we can get n.

m/n = 1/4

m/32 = 1/4

m = 8

m/0 = 1/4

m = 0

So for each case, we have m +n = 0 + 0 = 0

and m +n = 8+ 32 = 40
