If you have saved $35.75 and each CD costs $11.47, tax included, then you can buy:

$35.75 / $11.47 per CD = 3.116 CDs (rounded to the nearest thousandth)

Since you cannot buy a fractional part of a CD, you can only buy 3 CDs with the amount you have saved.

The answer is 2 CDS. 11.47 x 3 gives you 34.41. Once you add tax, it will definitely go over 35.75.
