The Treaty of Versailles, which was signed in June 1919, officially ended World War I. The primary provisions of the treaty included the following:-Germany was required to accept full responsibility for causing the war and to pay reparations to the Allied Powers.

-The German army was limited to a maximum of 100,000 men and prohibited from having submarines, tanks, and other heavy military equipment. -Germany was prohibited from unifying with Austria, and lost its colonies in Africa, the Pacific, and elsewhere.
-Germany was forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles without being allowed to negotiate or make changes to it.

-The Saar region of Germany was placed under League of Nations control for 15 years, during which its coal industry was administered by France.

-The German Rhineland was to remain demilitarized and was to be occupied by Allied troops for 15 years.
