To solve this, we need to be clear about the rule of the signs. When we have equaled signs, the result for the product of them is always positive:

+ * + = +

- * - = +

For different signs we have:

+ * - = -

- * + = -

In this case, we have:


6-(-7)=6+7=13

The product of the two minus signs (one in front of the parenthesis) results in a + sign. It is transformed in +, and then the operation is a sum of two numbers, resulting in 13.
