Length = 12

Width = 6

Explanation:

Width = 6 miles less than length;

L = L

W = L - 6

Area = 72 ft²

Area = Length * width

Area = (L * L-6)

Area = L² - 6L

L² - 6L = 72

L² - 6L - 72 = 0

L² - 12L + 6L - 72 = 0

L(L - 12) +6(L - 12) = 0

L = 12 or L = - 6

L cannot be negative

Width = L - 6

Width = 12 - 6 = 6

Hence,

Dimension of rectangle :

Length = 12

Width = 6
