Answer:

5x-3x = 2x

Explanation:

"The difference" = the substraction of two numbers

(something) - (something)

"The difference between the product of five and a number"

By product means multiplication. So, the multiplication of five and a number. Before, you have been told to represent the number with "x", and thats what you will do now.

(5*x) = (5x)

(5x) - (something)

"The difference between the product of five and a number and three times the number"

With three times the number, we mean the same letter "x" & three times will be the amount of times we will multiply it. So, by the end we will have:

(5x)-(3x)

Now we just rest them

5x-3x= 2x
