Answer:

In the story, “Back to My Own Country: An Essay” by Andrea Levy, she explains how she was raised and what she goes through after traveling from Jamaica to London. One thing Levy had spoken openly about was when the classroom was being segregated; “I walked over to the white side of the room. It was, ironically, where I felt most at home…” (paragraph 19). The author felt more at home with the people she had grown up with, the people she felt safe with. This provides the idea that home is found in an environment where you feel comfortable. In addition to the statement made previously, another example from the story is when Levy spoke openly about how she’s proud of her background by including: “I am now a happy black British writer,” (paragraph 24), this actively illustrates the author shows how home can be found in yourself as well. Finding a home within yourself typically takes a bit more digging and acceptance, but never impossible .Home is a meaningful state of mind that will forever be carried in your heart no matter what you view home to be. Overall, senses of home have the ability to be found in an abundance of different aspects, even if you don’t always realize it at first
