In the book The Nibelungenlied, Kriemhilde is one of the main characters and plays a significant role in the plot. She is the sister of King Gunther of Burgundy and becomes the wife of the hero Siegfried, who is later murdered. After Siegfried's death, Kriemhilde seeks revenge and marries the powerful King Etzel (Attila the Hun) in order to gain an army to take revenge on those who she believes are responsible for her husband's death. She invites Gunther and his warriors to visit her court, but instead of offering hospitality, she uses the opportunity to have them killed. The resulting bloodbath, known as the Nibelungenlied, sees Kriemhilde's ultimate vengeance, but at the cost of her own life as well as many others. Kriemhilde's actions are driven by her desire for revenge and the loss of her beloved husband, and ultimately lead to tragedy and destruction for all involved.

Answer:

Kriemhild is a princess of the kingdom of Burgundy, whose family rules from Worms beside the Rhine. She is famously beautiful and charming, desired by many knights, though it transpires that she is also calculating, with a long memory for wrongs and a bottomless capacity for revenge
