Why do you think the Oregon Trail made many Americans believe that their nation could achieve anything?

It connected a huge portion of the states & made travel easier. Was a huge stepping stone in trading, migrating etc

They thought that they could start a new life possibly making gold discoveries. They also made trades with the natives that lived there. But that didnt go so well later on.
