The length of a rectangle is two times the width. The perimeter of the rectangle is 24 inches. What is the area of the rectangle (in square inches)?

If the length is two times the width, let that be 2x and the width be x. Since it is perimeter, you must add it for each side so it will be 2x+x+2x+x=24. That will equal 4 as the answer. 4 is also the width of the rectangle. To find length multiply 4•2=8. For area multiply 8•4=32
