Calculate the molecular formula of a compound containing 1.21 g of carbon and 0.404 g hydrogen. The molecular mass of this compound is known o be 80.25 g/mol.

Molecular formula = CxHy

Molecular mass = (x * 12) + (y * 1)

80.25 = (x * 12) + (y * 1)

x = 1.21/12 = 0.101

y = 0.404/1 = 0.404

Molecular formula = C0.101H0.404
