Alex has a box of chocolates which are all flavoured with either caramel or raspberry. The possible outcomes of Alex picking two chocolates at random are shown in the tree diagram below. If both chocolates are the same flavour, what is the probability that they are both raspberry?Give your answer as a fraction in its simplest form.

The probability that both chocolates are raspberry, given that they are the same flavor, is 13/28.

Probability is a branch of mathematics that deals with the likelihood or chance of different outcomes occurring in a given event. It is expressed as a number between 0 and 1, where 0 indicates impossibility, 1 indicates certainty, and values in between represent varying degrees of likelihood.

The probability that both chocolates are raspberry is:

P(both raspberry) = P(raspberry, raspberry) + P(caramel, caramel

P(raspberry, raspberry) = (5/8) * (4/7) = 20/56

P(caramel, caramel) = (3/8) * (2/7) = 6/56

P(both raspberry) = 20/56 + 6/56 = 26/56

Simplifying, we get:

P(both raspberry) = 13/28
