what the framers meant by each phrase listed in the chart. An example is done

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union,

"insure domestic tranquility" - to keep peace within American borders/American territories

"provide for the common defense" - to keep peace within our allies borders and territories

"promote the general welfare" - to provide basic services such as transportation, health, agriculture

"secure the blessings of liberty" - to promote a free and fair government that ensures freedom now and in future generations
