Answer:There are 11 parameters out of which 2 or more/11 should be there within a period 12 months to diagnose it.

1. Failure to fulfil obligations at work,school or home.

2. Recurrent use even in hazardous situations(like drinking and driving)

3. Continued use despite persistent social problems(arguments with spouse)

4. Continued use despite physical or psychological problem caused by substance

5. Often taken in large amounts or over prolonged periods.

6. Unsuccessful efforts were tried to cut down use

7. Developing tolerance-desired effect not attained by continued use of same dose

8. Withdrawal symptoms which are relieved by taking the same or closely related substance

9. Craving or urge to use substance

10. Great deal of time or effort is made to procure the substance

11. Important activities are given up because of substance use.
