Answer:

Explanation:

Let's call the amount of pizza that Sean eats "x". Since Connor eats 1/4 the amount of pizza that Sean eats, we can say that Connor eats (1/4)x.

Since they split the cost based on how much pizza they eat, Sean pays for x amount of pizza, and Connor pays for (1/4)x amount of pizza.

The total cost of the pizza is $35, so we can set up the equation:

x + (1/4)x = 35

Combining like terms, we get:

(5/4)x = 35

Dividing both sides by 5/4, we get:

x = 28

So Sean eats 28 units of pizza, and Connor eats 1/4 of that, which is 7 units of pizza.

Sean pays for 28 units of pizza, which is the entire cost of the pizza, so he pays $35.

Connor pays for 1/4 of the cost, which is 1/4 of $35, or $8.75.

Therefore, Sean pays $35 and Connor pays $8.75.
