You are observing a sample of cells in the lab to determine why they did notdivide properly. You notice that the chromosomes are lined up in the middleof the cell, and the spindle fibers have extended towards them, but have notattached. What could be damaged?A. Nuclear envelopeB. Cell Division

During cell division, cells organize themselves so that their chromosomes are in the center of the cell (metaphase phase).

In metastasis, the spindle fibers will attach themselves to the centromere of the chromosome so that they can "pull" the chromosome so that it will separate equally for future cells that are being formed in cell division.

The centromere is the place where the chromosome is tightened and, in addition to DNA, some proteins can be found in this region. The centromere's function is to allow attachment to the spindle fibers.

Therefore, the answer is the alternative "C. Centromere"
