x = y + 7

Explanation:

Since there is 2 variables and 2 equations, we can plug the y in the first one to get: x = 8 + 2x + 7. 8 + 2x is the y. Solving this, we get -15 = x. Plugging this into the second equation, we get y = 8 - 30, so y = -22.
