Given :-

  • Two circles with radius x -2 and x + 2.

To find:-

  • The difference in the circumferences of the two circles.

Answer:-

As we know that the circumference of a circle is given by ,

\sf \implies C = 2\pi r \\

where,

  • r is the radius .

And here , the differences of the circumferences would be ,

\sf \implies \Delta C = C_1 - C_2 \\

\sf \implies \Delta C = 2\pi r_1 - 2\pi r_2 \\

\sf \implies \Delta C = 2\pi ( r_1 - r_2) \\

Here ,

  • r_1 = x +2

  • r_2 = x -2

So that ,

\sf \implies \Delta C = 2\pi ( x + 2 - (x -2)) \\

\sf \implies \Delta C = 2\pi ( x + 2 - x + 2 ) \\

\sf \implies \Delta C = 2\pi * 4 \\

\sf \implies \underline{\underline{\Delta C = 8\pi }} \\

Hence the difference in the circumferences of the two circles is 8π units .

and we are done!
