Answer:

y = 1/2x - 3

Explanation:

y = mx + b

You need to find the slope (m) and the y-intercept (b)

Slope:

Change in y over change in x

As y increases by 1, x is increasing by 2

slope = 1/2

y-intercept:

Select a point. It does not matter which one. I will choice (8,1) We will use the x and y values from this point and the slope 1/2 to find the y-intercept

y = mx + b

Use

y = 1 from the point (8,1)

x = 8 from the point (8,1)

m = 1/2

y = mx + b

1 = (1/2)(8) + b

1 = 4 + b Subtract 4 from both sides

-3 = b

y = 1/2 x - 3
