Part 1

Find the slope of the line in the graph.

m = -4

m = -1

m = 1

m = 4

Part 2
The graph in Part 1 (A. does), (B. does not) represent a proportional relationship because the line (A. does), (B. does not) pass through point (0, 0).

Part 3

Select the correct equation for the graph in Part 1.

y =−x +1

y = x + 1

y =−4x+1

y = 4x−1

Part 1 Find the slope of the line in the graph. m = -4 m = -1 m = 1 m = 4 Part 2 The-example-1

Answers are

1) m = - 1 slope

2) B. does not represent proportional
B. does not pass thru (0,0)

3) y = -x + 1

Explanations

1) I found slope using the two coordinates
(-2, 3) and (2, -1) and
formula y2 - y1 over x2 - x1

-1 -3 over 2 - -2 = -4/4 or -1 slope

2) proportional relationship means the line crosses at (0,0) which this does not

3) we know y = mx + b

We know m = -1
We know b is the y intercept on the graph, +1

y = -1x + 1
We drop the 1 coefficient as it is assumed with a variable and your final answer is

y = -x + 1

Part 1) m = 1 (do
(rise)/(run) )

Part 2) B, B

(The graph in part 1 does not represent a proportional relationship because the line does not pass through point (0,0).)

Part 3) y = -x + 1
