We have to express teh perimeter of the rectangle.

The sides are expressed in terms of x.

The perimeter of a rectangle can be calculated as sum of the sides, so we can write:

P=a+b+a+b=2(a+b)

If sides a and b are in terms of x, we can write:

P=2\lbrack(5x)+(3x-2)\rbrack=2\cdot(8x-2)=16x-4

Answer: the perimeter in terms of x is P=16x-4.
