The volume of a cylinder is equal to the area of its base times its height.

Since the base is a circle with diameter 4 feet, then its radius is 2 feet (since the diameter is twice the radius).

The area of a circle with radius r is:

\pi* r^2

Then, the area of the base of the cylinder is:

\pi*(2feet)^2=4\pi feet^2

Since the height of the container is 22 feet, then its volume is equal to:

\begin{gathered} V=A* h \\ =4\pi feet^2*22feet^2 \\ =88\pi feet^3 \end{gathered}

The number 88 times pi is approximately:

88\pi=276.4601535\ldots\approx276.46

From the options 153.5, 12.22, 10.49 and 38.37, the closest measurement to 276 is 153.5.
