Step-by-step explanation:

Lucas Calley, 11, has loved playing soccer since dad's friend Uncle Benny introduced him to the sport. Lucas' parents support their son's athletic endeavors until he suffers a concussion. When his parents learn of the numerous deaths from repeated concussions, they decide that Lucas must leave the team. Lucas is nervous, but Uncle Benny convinces Mum and Dad to change their minds. One day in September, Lucas drops out of school and takes the train to New York to enlist Uncle Benny's help on the .

Like dad, Benny is a firefighter. After Dad was badly burned in a fire, Benny helped take care of the family. Dad's skin is still scarred from his wounds, but Lucas's main concern is Dad's emotional wounds. He and his father were very close. Dad seems far away now, stuck in the past.

When Lucas arrives at Benny's fire station in New York, Benny is surprised to see him. Much to Lucas' dismay, Benny agrees with Mom and Dad that Lucas should quit playing soccer before it kills him. While talking, Lucas and Benny see a jet flying too low. Moments later, he crashes into one of the World Trade Center towers.

Benny and his crew spring into action.Benny tells Lucas to wait at the fire station while Lucas' father is away with his fire department. Lucas tries to call his parents while watching the smoke, dust and chaos on the streets. When he can't reach her, he tries to make himself useful by cleaning the fire station kitchen. Through the news he learns that the second tower of the World Trade Center was also hit. Try addressing the reporter's claim that someone intentionally downed those planes in the th attack on the United States.

Lucas walks through smoky streets that remind him of WWII photos he saw. Stunned and frightened people leave buildings or are treated by doctors. He goes to the assembly point of the fire department and finds his father. He and Dad help the injured and stranded as the towers begin to crumble. Lucas and Dad leave the main danger zone and Lucas realizes that nothing will ever be the same again.

months later, Lucas helps coach a children's soccer team. Two players lost their fathers in the September 11 attacks. Although Lucas no longer plays football, some of his former teammates support him as coaches. Uncle Benny, still recovering from injuries sustained while rescuing the victims, comes to watch the game. Lucas still mourns from the things he saw on 9/11, but he realizes that time will help him relive good days like this.
