How do you think World War One experiences effected the average soldiers view of war

At the beginning of the war, many soldiers were excited to defend their country due to nationalism and propaganda. After seeing the atrocities of war, they were suffering mentally. The soldiers most likely viewed war as meaningless and full of suffering; seeing their friends die in combat would change their minds.
