Answer:

Step-by-step explanation

Given,

The length of shadow cast by the flagpole=24 feet=288 inches

The height of person = 5 feet 4 inches =64 inches

The length of shadow cast by the person=48 inches

as per the figure shown ,

(AB)/(DC) =(BE)/(CE)

(AB)/(64) =(288)/(48)

ie AB = 384 inches

=32 feet

Hence , the height of the flagpole is 32 feet

Answer:

31.92 feet tall

Explanation:

The flagpole's height can be found by using proportions. We can start by converting the height of the person to feet, since the shadow length of the flagpole is given in feet:

Person's height = 5 feet + 4/12 feet = 5.33 feet

Now, we can set up the proportion:

Person's height / Person's shadow length = Flagpole's height / Flagpole's shadow length

Plugging in the values we have:

5.33 / 4 = Flagpole's height / 24

Solving for the flagpole's height:

Flagpole's height = (5.33 / 4) * 24 = 31.92 feet

Therefore, the flagpole is approximately 31.92 feet tall.
