Isotta Nogarola was a prominent Italian humanist and scholar who lived during the 15th century. She was born in Verona in 1418 and was the daughter of a wealthy family. Isotta received a classical education, which was unusual for women during that time period. She became fluent in Latin and Greek and was known for her eloquence and intellectual abilities.

Isotta was a sought-after speaker and writer, and her works included letters, orations, and dialogues. She corresponded with many leading humanists of her time, including Leonardo Bruni, Lorenzo Valla, and Francesco Filelfo. Isotta was also known for her defense of women's education and her advocacy for their equality with men.

Isotta's reputation as a scholar and intellectual earned her many admirers, including the powerful ruler of Mantua, Ludovico Gonzaga. He invited her to his court and made her a lady-in-waiting to his wife, Barbara of Brandenburg. While at court, Isotta continued to write and became involved in political and diplomatic affairs.

Isotta died in 1466 at the age of 48. Her legacy as a pioneering female scholar and advocate for women's education has continued to inspire generations of women throughout history.
