With the points first, we will calculate the slope m

(-1,-2) =(x1,y1)

(3,10)=(x2,y2)

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

then we substitute the values

m=(10+2)/(3+1)=(12)/(4)=3

the slope is m=3

point-slope form

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

then we substitute the values and we obtain this form

the point slope form is

y+2=3(x+1)

slope-intercept form

y=mx+b

we clear y of the point-slope form and we obtain the slope-intercept form

\begin{gathered} y=3x+3-2 \\ y=3x+1 \end{gathered}

the slope-intercept form is

y=3x+1
