Explanation:

Seeing the area as a whole, it would be 6x6 which = 36.

Obviously there are two missing pieces, a square and a rectangle.

The top square looks like both sides are 2. 2 squared is 4.

the bottom rectangle is 1 by 3. 3 times 1 is 3

Now that we have those areas of 3 and 4 (which add to 7). we can subtract that from the 36 found earlier

36-7 = 29
