If you go out to eat with 3 friends and your meal was $72. 50, there is 6. 75% sales tax and you should tip the waiter 15%. How much should each person pay

we're making assumptions here, that each will pay evenly, and that the pay will include tax and tip split over 4.

well, the meal was $72.50, hopefully with Doritos, so how much is 6.75% of that?

\begin{array}ll \cline{1-1} \textit{\textit{\LARGE a}\% of \textit{\LARGE b}}\\ \cline{1-1} \\ \left( \cfrac{\textit{\LARGE a}}{100} \right)\cdot \textit{\LARGE b} \\\\ \cline{1-1} \end{array}~\hspace{5em}\stackrel{\textit{6.75\% of 72.50}}{\left( \cfrac{6.75}{100} \right)72.50} ~~ \approx 4.89

so the bill plus tax is 72.5 + 4.89 ≈ 77.39, now, how much is 15% of that?

\stackrel{\textit{15\% of 77.39}}{\left( \cfrac{15}{100} \right)77.39} ~~ \approx ~~ 11.61\hspace{5em}\cfrac{\stackrel{ \textit{bill, tax \& tip} }{77.39~~ + ~~11.61}}{1+\underset{ friends }{3}} ~~ \approx ~~22.25 ~~ Each
