Explanation:

a. cost of one chocolate bar=?

cost of two chocolate bars= 4.90

To find the cost of one bar= 4.90/2

=2.45

therefore the cost of one bar= £2.45

B. total amount spent= 4.90+3.30

=8.2

therefore Simon spent £8.2 in total.

C. money left= total amount- total amount spent

=12.90-8.2

=4.7

therefore simon has £4.7 left.

D. 1 chocolate bar=2.45

7 chocolate bars=?

=2.45×7

=17.5

therefore melissa spent £17.15

Explanation:

a.) 2 chocolate bars cost 4.90. They want 1, which is half. That also means we should divide the 4.90 in half.

4.90/2 = 2.45

b.) Since he spent 4.90 on bars and 3.30 on a magazine, we add those two to get a total.

4.90 + 3.30 = 8.20

c.) He had 12.90. He spent 8.20. Subtracting will show how much he has left.

12.90 - 8.20 = 4.70

d.) Since 1 bar costs 2.45 (part a.). Multiplying 1 bar by 7 gets you 7. We do the same to the price.

2.45 x 7 = 17.15
